"Of course not," Lynda scoffed, and you could hear the lie clear in her voice. Sometimes she could lie really well, but right now it wasn't working for her. She returned his smile, just as sad and sorry as his was. Damn hearts. Sometimes Lynda wished she was actually heartless, instead of just pretending to be. Lynda glanced around, looking for her escape.

Something wasn't right about Lynda's smile. Maybe he was secretly some sort of 'smile expert', or something. Either way, he knew she didn't mean it. Not the smile and not her words. Worriedly, he steped toward her. "Are you ok?" He asked, trying to look her in the eyes. "Is something... wrong?"

Lynda automatically took a step back. "Nothing's wrong." She pulled out her phone and looked at the time. "Sorry Sasha, but I promised Jaynee I'd walk Finn right when school ended. He hasn't gotten the concept of the newspapers yet, and if he pees on the floor again, I'll get blamed." With a shaky smile, Lynda darted around Sasha.

"Wait!" Sasha called, grabbing her arm to keep her from getting past him. "I don't like being lied to. I know something's wrong. Please... just tell me what it is. I promise to leave you alone if you do." He looked down at her, unconciously tapping into his insignia. He knew she probably wouldn't tell him on her own, but it would just nag him indefinitely if he didn't find out.

After a couple of seconds of silence, Lynda could feel the words trying to come out of her mouth. She closed her eyes, concentrating on trying to fight him off. "You really don't want to know," she said through gritted teeth. Finally, his power won over her mind and she let the words slip out of her mouth. "You're wrong; your flirting did work. I'm attracted to you, OK?" Her cheeks burned a bright red from embarrassment and anger. "Now can you please just let me go and get on with my life."

Sasha blinked in surprise and confusion, staring down at Lynda before slowly letting go of her. "I'm sorry," he murmured, looking away. What was he supposed to say? He'd promised he'd let her go, after all. "Do you... hate me, or something?" He asked softly, hoping she'd at least answer him that before she left. He wouldn't really blame her if she did, after he led her on and all. He wasn't entirely sure that he wanted to know, but part of him just had to.

"Sometimes," Lynda replied. "Like right now. Right now I really hate you." With an icy glare, Lynda attempted to walk away again. Why was he so nosy? It was none of his business what was wrong with her. He should just go be with his boyfriend and live happily ever after.

Sighing, Sasha let her go. It wasn't like he could say anything to make it better. He didn't like it when people hated him -- and for some reason Lynda hating him really hurt. He needed to think... He needed to figure out what the hell was going on. The frown still on his face, he turned the other way and left as well, trying to find some place quiet to think.

Lynda walked the path around the park again and again. It was the only place in Eastwood that she liked, and was also the home of the gay pride rally. It was dark and cold and she had forgotten her jacket, but all that was the least of her problems. She sat down on a random bench - not knowing it was the bench where she had met Sasha - and hugged her knees.
It had been a whole week, and Lynda had been bottling up all her feelings. Everyone knew something was wrong, but they didn't know what. She needed to get over this... thing. She needed to get over him. She needed closure. And the empty park where no one can see her is the perfect place to get that alone time that she needed.
She felt the tears falling down her face, and choked a sob. When she cries, it's disgusting tears and sobs with her face red. And hiccups. It had been seven long years that she's held everything in. And she wasn't just crying over Sasha - he was just the reason that made everything explode. She was crying over every damn thing that's happened since she broke her arm that day when she was ten. And it felt good.

Sasha wasn't totally sure about what had brought him back to the park. It looked so sad and empty in comparison to what it had been the day of the rally. On the rally day, it had been hot and sunny, crowded with people and so full of color and music. But now it was cold and almost depressing looking. Sasha pulled his leather jacket tighter around himself, looking across the pond as memories flashed through his mind.
After a while, he continued on to walk around, pausing at the waterfall where he'd pulled Lynda out, his frown deepening. He had to keep moving -- couldn't let himself think about her. Since the last time he'd seen her, he'd spent too much time trying to figure out what went wrong, and came up empty every time. It only made him more confused and he didn't like it. So he ignored it... or tried to.
When he came up to the bench, though, his efforts proved useless. He stopped feet away when he realized who it was. "Lynda..." He whispered, not sure what to do. Finally, deciding not to think about it, he stepped over and sat beside her, placing his hand on her shoulder. He didn't say anything; just waited for her to look at him -- or run away. He knew he deserved the later, but he couldn't help but hope against it.

Lynda looked up through her tears to she him. Was she just imagining it? Was someone up in heaven out to get her? For a moment, her eyes just stared into his hazel eyes. They both had hazel eyes, but his were darker. Deeper. She let out another sob and looked away. Was he hurting her on purpose?
She shrugged his hand off her shoulder. She didn't want his pity. "What are you doing here?" she practically growled. She was so close to being back to normal - maybe even better than normal after she got seven years of bottled feelings out of the way - but he just ruined everything. And he didn't even know it. He was just a clueless idiot trying to help her.

"I was on a walk," He told her softly, taking his hand back. He couldn't help the hurt look on his own face. He didn't want to see her looking soangry at him. He didn't want her being angry at him at all. "I want to apologize to you," he told her, his eyes still boring down on her. "I know you have a right to be mad at me, and that I deserve it... But I just want you to know that I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you."

Lynda used the tail of her shirt to wipe away the lasting tears from her face. "You shouldn't blame yourself. It's my fault, too." She sighed, closing her eyes. She felt so good, to rid all of those things that have been haunting her for awhile. She opened her eyes and grinned at him, as if she wasn't just crying a minute ago. She felt like a whole new person, yet he probably just thought she was bipolar. Maybe she was. "But don't worry, I'll get over it. I want us to stay friends, OK?"

Sasha frowned down at her, totally thrown off. Instead of replying, he stood up and stepped a few paces away before turning around and walking back. He didn't sit back down; he couldn't make himself.
"I don't get you," he said carefully, not looking at her. "One second you want to bite my head off, the next you want to be friends... You say you're alright when you're not. You get pissed if I'm nice to you. Your attracted to me, but you hate me -- but you don't? Look, I know I shouldn't have led you on, or whatever, but... I'm not sure I can take this anymore."

Lynda stood up when he stopped, eyes going wide at what he said. Had she really done all that. "If you can't take being with me anymore, then just walk away," she replied, surprisingly calm. "Being friends was just a polite offer, but I'm not forcing you to accept it. I'm sorry I'm so... hard to understand."
