In the old days, gay meant happy. Today, though to most people the meaning of the word had changed, there was still one thing for certain; those who were gay really were happy.
At least, that's the way it seemed to Sasha. At a gay pride rally, everyone seemed to be having the time of their lives. Couples of pretty much ever type strolled around, layed out on picnic blankets, or were dancing near the stage. Sasha was completely in his element. With no shirt on and in skinny jeans with rainbows on them as well as a rainbow-feather boa, few could deny that he looked like he belonged. Out in public, though, he took a specail measure of covering his insignia with a rainbow sweat band around his wrist -- just in case.
It didn't matter if he hide the tattoo, though. He just didn't feel like dealing with it. He'd go to a marked-pride rally some other day (if anyone ever got up the courage to organize him). Today wasn't about that. It was about being with his people -- one of his most favorite past times.
Smiling to himself, Sasha made his way out of the crowd in front of the stage, moving to sit on a bench in the shade. Dancing was hard, hot (can we emphasize that hot? Pleaseandthankyou), sweaty work, especially when it so damned sunny out. Just for a few minutes, Sasha needed a break.

Lynda whipped her forehead for the hundredth time that day. It was really hot outside, and she was sweating buckets. On the front of her shirt it said "PRIDE ON!" in rainbow colors. She had come with a group of friends that all had that on the front. She was kind of sad that she hadn't come with Jaynee, but Jaynee was spending the day with her hippie friends. Lynda had considered inviting the hippies, but didn't think that would mix well with some of the jocks she was will. The group was mostly made up of bi girls, along with some boyfriends or gay boys, making nine total, if you counted Lynda. But they were all coupled up, so Lynda quietly slipped away from them.
As she walked away from the main crowd, where she had been dancing. She wore short-shorts, which she kept tugging down so they wouldn't show her butt. She HATED short-shorts, but it was what all the girls in the group were wearing. On one hand was a random rainbow that went up to her elbow, hiding the insignia. She didn't want to be attacked today, on a day that was supposed to be about equality and love. She wore a pair of converse, which was sadly not rainbowed, but black - and had a rainbow scarf tied around her waist.
On the back of her shirt, it said "I <3 boys who <3 boys." They had all agreed to write what their sexual orientation was on the back. She was straight, but wasn't looking for a boyfriend, which is why she said she loved gay guys. Aren't they the best? She smiled as she walked by a group of gay guys kissing, and sat down in the nearest seat - a bench which was only half occupied. She turned to the dude and smiled a bit. "That's an awesome boa you got there, dude." She didn't look at his shirtless abs, either, as much as she wanted to.

Sasha's eyes were just wandering over the various couples that scattered the area, his eyebrows raised in amuzement. A movement beside him caught his eye, followed by a voice (apparently directed toward him).
"Thanks," he grinned, flicking the some of the feathers that were tickling his chest. "I was gonna where a shirt... but I couldn't find anything good enough." He shrugged. "Your shirt would have worked, I suppose," he winked, giving the girl one of his trademark smiles.

Lynda, completely unfazed by his winking at her, turned away a bit so he could see the back and looked over her shoulder. "So you like boys who like boys too? Looks like we found something in common." She shifted so she was sitting right again and scanned the crowd. All her friends were scattered around with their significant over. As if someone was reading her mind, the woman up on the stage that was talking said. "Raise your hand if you're here with your significant other today?"

"If they didn't like boys, they wouldn't like me, right?" He shrugged. "Same goes for girls. I like girls who like guys, too."
He scanned the crowd, a small smile on his face at the sight of all the couples raising their hands. He couldn't help but note that the girl beside him didn't raise her hand. A good sign for him, if the back of her shirt was any true indicater. "Raise your hand if you're gay!" The woman yelled, only to be answered by a buttload of screams and hands waved in the air. "Raise your hand if you're Bi!"
At that, Sasha raised his own hand, giving a good "Woot!" and sitting up in the bench. When the crowd calmed down, he sat back and laughed.

A small frown came across Lynda's face. She preferred gay guys opposed to bi guys, weirdly enough. Mostly because she knew she couldn't have a gay guy, but she could have a bi guy. She didn't want a guy. Her thoughts went back to her sister, trying to get her a boyfriend. Pshh, she didn't need a man. Jaynee, however, did. "OK, now raise your hand if your straight!" Lynda put both her hands in the air an hollered, noticing that the only others that seemed to do this were the older, married couples. "I love straight people," said the lady, earning laughs. "No, really guys, I love ya'll. I mean, where do you think us queers come from? You straight folk!" Lynda chuckled at that.
"Ha, I want my kid to be gay," Lynda commented, even though she had no child, and probably won't for a long time.

"That's not something you hear every day," Sasha raised an eyebrow at the girl, amuzed. It wasn't that hard to amuse Sasha, really. He was just that kind of amazing guy (according to some). Either that or he had adhd. Counting how much he liked shiney things, the jury was still out on the subject.
"So, how exactly do you plan to do that? Pin up a bunch of playboys around the nursury if it's a girl and give it a thousand dolls if it's a boy?" He looked down at the girl, a big grin on his face.

Lynda narrowed her eyes a bit at him. "Of course not. That could just produce a very sluttish girl or a very wimpy boy. I'll just get Kevin or Courtney to hang around the kid a lot. Their gay is contagious." Lynda giggled a bit at a joke that Sasha didn't know. She closed her eyes briefly, almost reliving one of the most hilarious things she's ever seen, before remembering he was there. She resumed her glaring.

Sasha watched the girl flicker from annoyance, to giggling, right back to glaring. It was kind of a funny sight. "While I'd usually go on some sort of rant about how you can't 'catch' being gay," he said slowly, leaning towards the girl conspiritorily. "I'm going to ignore it and instead inform you that you're a lot cuter when you laugh than when you frown. Trust me, sweety." His own smile twitched wider. "And I mean that in the best possible way."

Lynda's mouth curved up - as much as she tried to stay frowning - in a smirk. "You call me sweetie one more time, and I'll have to make that pretty boa of yours into a cute little noose." She gave him a bright smile, as if she didn't just threaten him, and once again scanned the crowd. Some of those gay guys out there were so cute. Her eyes stopped at a pin full of puppies. I wonder what Jaynee will think if I brought home a puppy? she wondered. Jaynee probably wouldn't mind, but the school might. Plus the fact that they'd have to take care of it, which Lynda sucked at doing. She remembered the time she accidently killed Jaynee's hamster. Never happening again.

"Sorry, sorry," Sasha held up his hands as if in surrender. "But if you don't like being called sweety then you probably shouldn't have come to a place like this." He sat back against the bench, crossing his arms across his muscular chest, as if he were pouting. "Why exactly are you here, anyway? A cute straight girl, here alone? That's only a little sketchy." Yes, even when pouting, Sasha was talkative, intrusive, and still tended to hit on people without thinking about it at all.

Lynda crossed her arms too, but it was more defensive than pouty. It wasn't like she didn't like being called sweetie, but she didn't want strangers that she was annoyed with calling her that. "Who says I came alone, huh?" She glanced out into the crowd, only spotting about four of the eight. After a second, she sighed in defeat and slouched down in her seat. "They're all off in their little couples, doing whatever. I felt like a third, or ninth, wheel."

"Well, that's not very nice." Sasha shook his head, glancing at the girl again. After a moment, he turned to the girl, a thoughtful look on his face. "Look, I know by now you probably don't like me very much, but I don't think it's right for you to be here alone." He looked down at his boa, flicking at the feathers absently. "I know I'm just some random guy, but maybe you might let me hang out with you. Until your friends get... less busy, that is." He looked up at her, using his best puppy face (which, incidently, tapped right into his insignia, making it glow beneath his rainbow sweatband).

"Sure," Lynda said, then her brows knitted together in confusion. Did she really just say yes? Why the hell would she do that? She didn't want to be with that guy for another second. What the hell was going on? She shook her head slightly. "So what do you want to do then? Oh, and it might be helpful if I knew your name."

A grin broke out on the blonde boy's face, obviously pleased. "Sasha. Sasha Daniels," he introduced himself, offering her his hand. "And my vote... would be to get something to drink. It's hot as hell out here and I'm told that dehydration is a big no-no~" Sometimes, Sasha even impressed himself as to how fast his little tricks could work. He wasn't complaining, though. The girl was, as he'd stated, cute.
