Tango walked along the shore of the lake, her flipflops in one hand, her small whiteboard in the other. She let the water lap at her ankles, cooling her feet. The silent girl continued walking through the water, a breeze making her dark hair dance. It seemed she was the only person at the lake today, but she didn't mind. She prefered spending time by herself. She was just so shy around people she didn't know, and it was difficult to talk to someone through a whiteboard when they were a stranger. She waded in up to her knees, her short white shorts staying perfectly dry as she looked down at the water and the small ripples her legs sent out as they moved. She loved wading around in the lake, but she would never go any deeper than her knees. The water got too murky in the deeper parts for her liking. She wore a swim suit under her shorts and t-shirt, just in case she fell, but she had no intention of actually swimming today. Tango just liked to walk or sit around the lake, enjoying the beauty of the outdoors without being disturbed.

"CANNONBALL!" Taidan yelled as he ran off the dock on the lake and into the water with a big splash. He resurfaced on his back, floating out on the lake. He figured that no one was there, which he was glad for. He hadn't been able to get any peace and quiet in awhile, and now was the perfect chance. When he turned his head slightly, he was surprised to see a girl. He put on a big smile, even though he was a bit irritated that someone else was there, and swam over to her. When it got to shallow to swim, he stood in the murk of the ground in front of her. The mud between his toes didn't bother him at all. He tried to wipe his wet hand on his shirt, but failed seeing as he wore none. He smirked a bit realizing he was shirtless, but didn't let the vain thoughts get in his head too much. he held out his hand for her to shake. "Hello there! I'm Taidan Senmon," she said with his most friendliest grin.

She smiled, blushing furiously as she tossed her sandals onto the sandy shore before shaking the boy's hand. He was so damn hot she just couldn't get the red to leave her face. She held up a finger as if to say, "One sec." Tango then pulled a black dry-erase marker from her pocket and wrote on the whiteboard, "Hello, I'm Tango Shinkan. Nice to meet you." The meeting actually wasn't so nice for her considering that his cannonball had startled her and that she was now having to talk, sort of, to an insanely cute guy she didn't know, but she would never be so rude as to say that, even if she could fit it all on her whiteboard.

"Oh! So you're the mute girl," Taidan said in a friendly voice after he read the whiteboard. "Oh, wait, damn, I'm sorry, that sounded rude. And my brother was deaf, so I've known sign language since I could talk pretty much." At the last sentence, Taidan's voice turned a bit frosty and he looked down at the water so she wouldn't think he was glaring at her. "So if you want to use sign language instead of the white board, you can."

"Oh, thank you, but I actually never use sign language. I learned it when I was little but I've always used the board instead because it's faster for me," she wrote, then after he read it, wiped the board clean and continued, "My ability gives me an affinity for words, especially written ones, so I prefer writing to using my hands." Tango kept blushing. She didn't like having to explain her ability, especially since it wasn't very easy to do. It was hard enough having to explain the mute thing every time she met someone. Usually she tried to avoid telling what her power was if she could do so without seeming overly evasive, but she figured that here it was needed as an explanation. She'd never met anyone at this school who knew sign language. It was interesting.

Taidan nodded as he read what she wrote. "Yeah, I've heard about your power, actually. My power is knowing how to speak any language, which has always made me wonder: if you took my words, would you be able to speak other languages? So you can take my voice anytime; I don't really care." He gave her his biggest smile at this.

"Oh, I-I couldn't do that. I hate stealing people's words," she wrote now. That was one problem with holding power over words, when she wrote on the board it came out exactly as it would had she spoken, stutters and all. She didn't like not having her own words to speak, but she'd grown accustomed to it over the years, and she'd always hated the idea of taking away someone else's words to use as her own. She'd only ever done it a handful of times in her life, and that was mostly with close friends or family members. She remembered one time when her mother got laringitis she used her words for a whole week. Her mother couldn't speak anyway, so she didn't miss them, and since there was nothing physically wrong with Tango's vocal chords, she sounded just fine. That was really the only time she'd felt okay taking away someone's words.

"But it's not stealing if I'm willingly giving them to you, now is it?" Taidan replied. He was really curious about her power. Would the voice sound like her own, or like his? Since it's his words, would she be able to speak other languages, too? Verbal words had always been something that interested him, and she's the only other person he's heard of at the school that has some word-related power. Truthfully, this has been bugging him for awhile, but he couldn't do anything then because he didn't know who the girl was. Now was his chance. Stepping closer to her, he gave his best puppy dog pout. "Please? For me?"

Tango's blush deepened so that her face was almost entirely a bright crimson color. "Ah, I-I guess not. Okay," she wrote quickly, not even looking at the board. She reached out and hand and took hold of his own, blushing more, if that was even possible. "It only works if I'm touching the person," she said in her own bright clear voice. It was a little crackly from disuse, but it was definately her voice, her borrowed words. "Now let's see if this language thing works," she continued, "Jej idziemy, O, fajne, mówiê polski! (Here we go, oh, cool, I'm speaking Polish!)" She grinned when she finished speaking, releasing his words so Taidan could take them back if he wanted them, but she didn't let go of his hand.
((I used Google translator for that, just fyi))

Taidan smirked at the fact that the language thing worked. He had figured it would, and he loved the satisfaction of being right. He was also glad that when she spoke, she had her own voice and not his. That might freak him about a bit. Squeezing her hand, he mutter to her, "Niesamowite (amazing)." Even after going to this school for awhile, he was still amazing at the things the insignia could do. "You have such a beautiful voice, Tango." He smirked at the blush on her cheeks and with his free hand, he put his hand on her cheek. They automatically warmed his hand up, they were so hot.

Her eyes grew wide and her cheeks increased to maximum heat and redness when his hand touched her face. "Th-thank you," she managed to stammer, looking down in a pathetically vain attempt to hide her embarrassment at being this close to someone she'd just met. She wanted to run and hide, but something kept her rooted in place. He was just so damn cute, so cute and blonde and shirtless.

Not moving his hand for her cheek or hand, he let out a laugh at her stammering. "You're so cute," he said in between chuckles. He looked down and realized how close he was standing to her. A couple inches closer, and he could have kissed her. "I'm sorry, am I making you uncomfortable?" After lingering for a second, his hand on her cheek dropped to his side and he took a step back and into the murky part of the water. He didn't let go of their intertwining hands, however, because then she wouldn't be able to speak, and he wouldn't be able to hear her lovely voice.

"Thank you, it's just, I get kinda shy around people I don't know very well," she said, the crimson in her face receding ever so slightly. Tango was glad he wasn't standing so close anymore, but strangely disappointed at the same time. She looked up at him, then down at the water they were standing in. The part where he was was murky, too dark to see the bottom. She could only just barely see her own feet, and she started to worry. "How can you swim in this water? It's so dark," she said without really thinking about it, and then her blush returned. Her fear would probably seem silly to him.

Taidan looked down at the black murk he was standing in, and then to the lake of dark and scary unknown. But he didn't fear it; it only made him want to explore it more. "Huh. I honestly don't know," he said with a shrug. He realized her embarrassment at implying that she was afraid of the creepy water, and would have normally teased a person about it. But for some reason, he felt the need to comfort her. "And I would think I'd be afraid of it, because I'm afraid of the dark, but I guess it's different because it's water and I just didn't think of it." In turn, his cheeks turned a pink color. He had never told anyone he was afraid of the dark.

Tango smiled, but not in a mocking way, in a sweet way. She would never laugh at someone's fear, but she felt that this was especially true with him. "When I'm in the water I can't stop thinking about it. It'd take a pretty huge distraction to keep me from worrying about what I'm stepping on or what's slithering around my feet," she said, shifting her toes uncomfortably.
