Annoyed, Dr. Lupus sent a pointed look at the officer by the door. When he didn't budge, the teacher made a show of rolling his eyes. "I'm a teacher at the most dangerous school in the country. I think I can handle two teenage girls." That seemed to work well enough. The guard mumbled to himself a few times but finally left, leaving Lupus alone in the small room with the girls.
"I'm not going to get into the fact that they are questioning you without your parents or a lawyer present," the man began, studying the girls. "Mostly because it's not my place," He made a show of glancing over his shoulder at the one way mirror before stage whispering to the girls, "Though you should really talk to someone about that when we get out of here." Sitting back, he stretched out and raised an eyebrow at the girls. "Now, would one - or both - of you like to tell me what happened. And remember not to leave anything juicy out. I'm all ears -- and insignia."

"It was midnight, when we were hungry. We snuck out into the cafeteria, and while making sandwiches, I noticed a refrigerator that said 'Teachers Only.' So, of course, I had to check it out. Inside it, there was these cupcakes. We decided that we'd take them to Language class, because there was supposed to be a party. We didn't suspect there would be any pot or whatever in them, because they came out of the teacher's fridge." Lynda nodded to her twin to continue the story.

"Well we took them back to our room and left them on the floor to thaw out to take the next morning. So we took them to class and passed them out and it all seemed to be going fine, until I started getting this weird feeling. I remember having this floaty feeling after taking a few bites of the cupcake, and everyone had this kind of misty expression. I had a major hunch that there was some pot in the cupcakes at that point cuz one time I accidentally ate some hashbrownies at my friend's birthday party, so I stopped eating mine and smacked Lynda's away from her, but that's as far as I got," she started out. She didn't want to rat out Rina, but she figured there was no way she could avoid that now, and it wasn't like they knew who this friend was or would really care to punish her for having pot-filled brownies almost a year ago.
"Then this one guy, who'd had two full cupcakes, might I add, started dancing rather dirtily on his desk, and when I say dirty I mean the boy looked like he was just waiting for someone to give him a pole and chant 'Take it off!' So then this other girl started dancing with him, though I think she only ate half a cupcake. She's just a slut, but anyway, the desk eventually gave out and then fell down and started making out," Jaynee continued, "Then this nerdy guy, who the dancer guy stole his second cupcake from, pushed the red button cuz obviously something was up, and a bunch of admins and SRO's came and took us away and brought us here. Oh, and we told this same basic story to one of the detective guys and he didn't believe it."

"Those were pot brownies in the teacher's lounge?" He chuckled, shaking his head. "Wow. Glad I didn't try any." For a moment after that, he just studied the twins before suddenly standing up with a grin on his face.
"You can go on and release them. I can take them back to the school," He announced in a loud, mocking voice to the one way mirror. "Because in case you don't get it, they were telling the truth. I don't know if you have any real lawful reason to keep them, actually. But I know you can't hold them now. Whether they distributed the brownies or not, they didn't know what they contained." As if to prove it, he lifted his wrist to show them. "Not a flicker. Happy now?"

"Officer O'Reily, escort these people out," Detective Marshall said with narrowed eyes at the two girls. He had no reason to argue against them anymore. A big smile broke out on Lynda's face as they escorted them out. At the site of the outside world - cars, trees, sun - Lynda felt like kneeling to the ground and kissing it. "Freedom!"

It took all of her willpower not to jump up from her chair and yell, "Take that you assholes!" Jaynee practically danced her way out of the building she was so excited to be free. She felt like climbing every tree, smelling every flower, and sitting on the hood of every car she saw. It was strange how a few hours in the slammer, and the threat of spending several hundred more there could make you appreciate the outside world and fresh air. It was the old basic principle of wanting most what you couldn't have. She ran over and hugged the teacher tightly, saying, "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Oof!" Lupus looked down at the girl hugging him ans shook his head. "Don't thank me too much," He sighed, managing to pry himself away uncomfortably. "There's still the matter of you stealing those brownies from the teacher's fridge. And being out of your dorm in the middle of the night." He raised an eyebrow at them and motioned with his hand for them to follow him to his car, gesturing toward the backseat. "You may be out of the slammer, but there's still a matter of your punishment on the schools terms. You understand that, don't you?"

"Cupcakes," Lynda corrected Lupus as she slid into the back of the car. "And any punishment the school's going to give us is better than that place." Lynda motioned to the jail behind her, silently hoping she'll never have to see that place again. She hadn't really thought about getting in trouble for sneaking out after curfew or breaking into the kitchen or stealing the cupcakes from the teachers. "Do ya'll know which teachers put the cupcakes in the fridge?"

"Oh, I understand that just fine," Jaynee said, sliding in next to her sister, "It just doesn't bother me. I'll take a years worth of detentions if it means I don't have to go to jail." The hippie girl buckled her seatbelt and made herself comfortable in the car seat, enjoying the switch from hard cement and hard plastic to cushy apolstry. She was wondering who had put the cupcakes there as well, but she figured pestering the man wouldn't get an answer any faster.

"I don't know. I didn't really know much about them at all, to be honest," He admitted, belting himself in and starting the engine. "And they likely wouldn't have sent you to jail for that. Fined you, maybe... Juvenile Detention at the worst. But I'm sure it wouldn't have been that bad. And if you tell your parents about this... you may be able to sue, or something. Unless they have parental consent, they have no rights to question minors. Detain, maybe, but not question."

Lynda frowned at the thought of their parents. "I'd rather not get them into this," she muttered. Realizing she had yet to put her seat belt on, she did so and started out the window. It was kind of awkward sitting in the car of a teacher, she thought. "Then again, one of my life long goals has always been to sue someone."

"I don't think it's worth bothering mom and dad and their lawyers. They're busy and rich enough with work without sueing the police station. Besides, sueing would mean bringing them out here and admitting that we both had pot, me twice," Jaynee said. She really didn't feel like having her parents fly all the way here from Seattle for this. She just didn't care that much. Jaynee had a forgive and forget policy and since it had all basically worked out and they weren't going to jail, or juvenile detention, or getting fined, then she was happy.

~Time Skip~
Today was the first day of a very long month of detentions that the twins would have to serve. Lynda walked into the detention room, which was almost empty, and groaned at the realization that she was early. She got to detention early? How pathetic is that? Sitting in the back corner, she threw her bag into the chair next to hers, now reserved for her twin. People started to fill in after awhile, and Lynda guarded the chair protectively. One month of detention was already bad enough, but to go through the boring detention without her twin? That's practically torture.
Not as bad as jail, Lynda reminded herself. The classroom was almost full with students now, and only the four desks in the front were empty. No one wanted to sit in those, and a quite cute guy walked up to the reserved desk. "Is this seat taken?" In her mind, Lynda was debating whether or not to give it to him. He wasn't that hot.
"Obviously, it is. Don't you see the Manchester United bag, right there, bright as day? Have fun in the front row or go sit on the floor," Lynda said with a sarcastic smile at him as he walked up to the front row. The things she'd do for her twin.

Jaynee walked intot he detention room to find that she was the very last person to arrive. She smiled and waved cheerily at the other detention-goers before walking to the back to take a seat next to her sister. "Thanks for saving me a spot," she said. She glanced toward the front where the teacher in charge of them, Mrs. Barnes, was putting in the earphones of her iPod, the awesome squishy kind that block out all other sound. The woman then proceeded to pull out a book and turn her chair around so that she could put her feet up on the little ledge of the whiteboard that held markers.
"Perfect, slack detention teacher," Jaynee said to Lynda. A few seconds later the boy sitting in the desk in front of her turned around.
"Weren't you two the ones who handed out those pot cupcakes?" he asked.
"Well, yes, we handed them out, but we didn't know there was pot in them at the time," Jaynee replied.
"How could you not know?"
"We didn't make them."
"Who did?"
"We don't know yet. We found 'em in the teachers' fridge."
"So you stole them?"
"Yup. That's why we're here."

The boy in front of Jaynee stayed silent for a moment, so Lynda decided to jump in. "If your done interrogating my sister, could you please turn your ugly self the other way and stop being so damn nosy." Lynda sent him her famous sarcastic smile before sending a genuine one to her sister.
"Yes, best lazy woman ever. I hope we have her for the rest of the month, too." Lynda pulled her bag off Jaynee's desk, fiddling with the strap a bit.
