"Looks clear," Jaynee whispered to her sister as she peered around the corner. The hallway was dark, but she could make out the cafeteria door and surrounding area well enough to tell that no one was there. She'd expected as much. Who would care enough to guard the cafeteria? The blonde girl pushed her curly hair out of her face and crept around the corner towards the door. Clad in the pink tank top and black shorts that made up her pajamas as well as a brown-and-white striped hoodie and a pair of pink socks, she made not a sound. She glanced over her shoulder to make sure her twin was following her just before she reached the door and was not disappointed.
Lynda didn't exactly want to be here, she knew, but Jaynee really didn't feel like leaving their dorm in the middle of the night to seek out a snack in the cafeteria alone. The school could be a creepy place when it was dark and empty. She tried the door handle without much hope of it opening, but to her surprise, the handle turned easily.
"One of the janitors got lazy," she whispered, glad that she didn't have to pick the lock. She could do it without much difficulty, thanks to one of their neighbors back home, but she felt a bit guilty about it afterwards. Jaynee opened the door and stepped into the large room which was completely pitch black. She made her way slowly over to where she knew the lunch lines to be. She held her hands out, feeling for obstacles, but still managed to bump her knees on a few tables, cursing softly as she did.

Lynda silently followed her sister with impatience, just wanting to get back in the warmth of her bed. She only wore a baggy white shirt, with baggy blue gym shorts. She hadn't thought to bring a jacket, or socks even, and felt incredibly stupid. She wasn't warned exactly what she was getting dragged into, but she already knew. Sometimes the ways of Jaynee annoyed her, especially when Jaynee had to go to one of those public bathrooms and dragged Lynda with her, but she's gotten used to things like this after 17 years. When your sister and best friend is your complete opposite, you learn to tolerate a lot. Lyn walked a bit faster, hugging herself, as her pony tail beat against her neck.
As much as Lynda didn't want to admit, she was also hungry, so the pitch black cafeteria made her smile. No one could see it, of course, which she was glad for. She didn't smile too often. There was a faint sent of all different kind of foods lingering in the air, like always. Slowly, she made her way through the obstacle of tables in her way after Jaynee, setting her hands out to make sure she doesn't run into one.
Once she thought she was clear of the tables, she lowered her hand and picked up speed, tired of walking slow. She had been known to walk really fast, excluding when she went to certain classes she doesn't like. Then she might risk getting there early. Almost immediately after her pace increased, Lynda ran into a table, falling on top of it, then flipping off. "Oh, fuck-wads," she said rather loud as she hit the floor. After groaning on the dirty floor, Lynda muttered, "How Jaynee of me."

Jaynee burst into giggles as she heard her sister fall, not in the least offended. It sounded like something she would do, even though she wasn't exactly sure what had happened due to the darkness.
"You okay Lyn?" she called, abandoning any attempt at being quiet. At this point, she figured it was very unlikely that they'd be heard, no matter the volume. The large room contained most sound when the doors were closed, so no one in the hall would be able to hear them unless they were really listening. Jaynee made her way over to where she guessed her sister was based on the noise, moving as quickly as she could without repeating the move her sister had just performed.

"I'm fine, Jay," Lynda said, using the wall to help her stand up. Her back cracked loudly and she feel like an old person if she complained, so she kept her thoughts about that to herself. She clumsily kicked away a chair that was caught on her food and her hand landed on a doorknob. "OH! I found the kitchen. Where are you?" She reached out one hand without letting go of the door, because she'd then somehow lose the door if she were to do so. Her stretched out hand hit someone's face.
"Oh shit, Jay, you okay?" Lynda said, rubbing where she assumed her sister's jaw was. "I'm really not good at doing things in the dark, huh?" Lynda turned her attention back to the door, jiggling the handle. It was locked, of course. "Jay, would you rather try to pick the lock in the dark, or turn the door into a tea cup?" She put her hand against the white door and looked in her sister's direction.

"No, you're really not," Jaynee said, laughing as she brushed her sister's hand away from her face. She reached out and put one hand on the door, grabbing hold of Lynda's hand with the other. It would take both of them to shape the door since it was white. "We'd probably just step on a teacup and break it," she said, "How about a chair?"

"A chair will be good. As long as I don't trip on that, too," Lynda added with a chuckle. She stared at the door, even though she couldn't see it. The insignia on her arm started to glow faintly, being the only thing in the room that she could see. Then suddenly, there was only air where her hand was instead of a door. She reached down, grabbing the chair. "I'm not tripping over this chair," she said to herself, grinning. Normally, she would have moved it to the side, but she didn't want to lose it somehow, because then there would need to be explaining on how the door disappeared, yet a white chair was found.

Jaynee watched her own insignia glow a bright red as the door disappeared, replaced by the chair. She stepped carefully around the chair through the door. It was even darker in here than it had been, if that was even possible. Here the darkness wasn't just thick, it was solid. It was like a massive block of jello that filled up every space.
"Okay, enough of this shit," she said, feeling along the wall until she found the lightswitch. She flicked on one set of lights, leaving about half of the area in only dim light so that it wouldn't be too noticeable. The blonde girl blinked in the sudden light, squinting until her eyes adjusted. It would take forever to get readjusted to the dark, but it was better than tripping over crap and having no clue what they were eating. "The fridges should be in the back," she said, starting across the room.

Lynda closed her eyes as the lights came then slowly opened them. When her vision was finally clear, she followed her sister to where the back was. "Man, I'm starving," she complained as she took out all the necessaries to make a sandwich from the fridge. When it comes to Lynda's appetite, she could eat like a man sometimes. As she finished making her masterpiece, because that perfect sandwich of hers was the closest thing she was ever going to make to art, she noticed another fridge in the corner. It had a sign on it that said "Teacher Refrigerator; No Students Allowed." Glancing in both directions, she opened it. There wasn't anything good in there, but she found a sketchy-looking box of frozen cupcakes in the fridge. "Cupcakes, score!"

"Dude, those look way sketchy," Jaynee said around a bite of her own sandwhich, which was smaller and less spectacular than Lynda's but still yummy nonetheless. She stared at the box for a long minute, thoughts forming in her head. The fridge looked like it hadn't been touched in a good while. Likely whoever stuck the cupcakes there had forgotten about them by now and wouldn't be back for them anytime soon. Even if they did come looking for them, who would ever guess that a couple of midnight snackers stole them.
"We should totally take those," she said, not sure what she intended to do with them once they had them.

Lynda shrugged at her sister's statement. She wouldn't know what they would do with the cupcakes if they took them, and needed a reason for stealing. "Isn't our Language class having a party tomorrow to celebrate the finishing of that awful book we were just reading? Let's take these to that, then." She quickly counted them, then pictured their class. "We have the perfect number of them right now, which means if we do that, we can't have any until tomorrow." She set them down on the table so she could grab her sandwich and take a ridiculous-sized bite out of the side.

"Perfect. They're all frozen now, and besides, if I eat a cupcake now I'll never be able to go back to sleep," she said, taking a much smaller bite out of her own sandwhich. Jaynee yawned as she made sure the freezer door was shut and proceeded to finish off her sandwich. "We really should get back soon," she said, "Gotta get some sleep tonight."

Lynda waited as patiently as she could for her sister to finish the sandwich, finishing way before she had, then nodded as she mentioned leaving. A fierce yawn ripped through her mouth as she made her way back to the door, then after fixing that, their room. She dropped the cupcakes by the door, hoping they'd defreeze over the night, and fell into a dreamless sleep.

Jayne did a quick sweep of the kitchen to make sure everything was back where they found it before following her sister back to their room. She left the cupcakes where Lynda had dropped them, figuring they'd be okay until morning since they had to thaw anyway. Another huge yawn floated from her mouth as she slipped into bed, still wearing her jacket and socks, and instantly fell asleep.
~Timeskip: Language Class~
Jaynee sat on top of a desk next to her sister, a plate full of food in her lap. She was wearing a white t-shirt with black letters reading "Brains not bombs" along with a pair of cut-offs, some dark brown gladiator-style sandals, and her mirror necklace. Her dirty blonde hair was tied up in a perfectly sloppy bun that left a few strands hanging down. She peered around the room, counting the number of cupcakes she saw in hands. She was hoping there would be some left over so that she and Lynda could have more, but no such luck. Every single person was eating or had on their plate a cupcake, even the teacher.
"Darn, no leftovers," she said to her twin as she bit into a brownie. She had yet to take a bite of her own cupcake, trying to save it for last so that she could see if they were any good by watching the other students.

"Darn," Lynda said to her twin, pouting. She glanced at her cupcake on her plate. It looked awfully good, but looks can be deceiving. Like today, she wore her hair in pig tails, making herself look sweet. Wrong. She wore her favorite shirt that was light blue, and said "I'm Lynda, not Jaynee" on the front. It looked so cute and Innocent, with polka dots and random swirls. But then you look on the back, and it says "GET IT STRAIGHT" in such a way that it really means "get it wrong and I'll kick your ass." Then there's the shorts that are way too short and the knee-high boots that scream "slut" which everyone knows she's the complete opposite of. So for all she knew, the cupcake could be the nastiest thing she's ever eaten.
Looking around the classroom to hear moaning of yummy-goodness, Lynda knew that in this case, the cupcake probably tasted just as good - if not better - than it looked. She always saved the best for last, so her cupcake wasn't yet touched. She grabbed a fortune cookie, which some dude had passed out earlier, and cracked it open. She ate the cookie part, then saved looking at the fortune for last. "You're about to be in big trouble," she read aloud, then started to laugh. "Stupid cookies." She had already devoured her other food while many people were still on their first or second treat, but she took the last treat, the cupcake, and took a big bite. "It's like a little slice of heaven," Lynda noted to her sister. A couple bites in, she started to feel like she was floating on clouds.

Jaynee glanced at her sister before taking a bite of her own cupcake. After a few bites she began experiencing a light and airy sensation, as if she were floating. Judging by the other student's expressions, they were feeling the same thing. Before she could get too lost in the pastry, the hippie girl realized something. She felt strange. Good, but not her normal good. This was something else. And not just something else, but something else that she'd felt before. But when? When had she ever felt this loose and carefree before? Sure, she was always loose and carefree, but not this much. She felt like she had stepped out of her body and was watching her surroundings from a distance, as if none of it mattered to her. When had this happened before?
Shit. Rina. More specifically, her birthday party last year. Rina was one of Jaynee's hippie friends who lived just outside of the town near the school. Now, Jaynee was a hippie in the sense that she cared about animals and the environment and didn't believe in violence. Rina was a hippie in those ways too, but also in the sense of having a serious marijuana problem. And last year for her birthday they had brownies. It's not too hard to guess at this point what was in them besides chocolate. Jaynee wasn't into the whole drugs thing, but that night she hadn't known they were having hashbrownies instead of regular brownies, and she'd had one or two, and that was where she recognized this feeling from. This wasn't just cupcake ecstasy, this was the opening stage of a high. The floating sensation that you got before you were full on high. Like a buzz rather than being drunk.
"Shit. Shit shit shit shit shit," she hadn't really realized that she was saying out loud, but when she managed to drag herself back to her body and make her hand drop the cupcake, she noticed the people staring at her. Truly, it was only a few people. Most of the class was too dazed already to notice her stream of profanity. Jaynee knocked the cupcake from Lynda's hand before she could take another bite, feeling like she was reaching through pudding.
