Raven peered around the gym as she went through the stretching routine that she did before dancing, checking for faces she knew. There were none. She'd been going to this school for a little while now, but for some reason in the middle of the semester the guidance people decided that she needed to take gym that year, so here she was in a class full of strangers. Raven didn't mind meeting new people, in fact she liked it, but it was tough sometimes, especially since most people found her particular brand of honesty to be too much for them. That is to say, people didn't like it that she was honest all the time, no matter what, no matter how much it hurt. It didn't help that she'd chosen today to wear her snake bites. She liked the lip rings, and she didn't want the holes to close up, but she didn't like to wear them too often because they made her look like a punk, like the old Raven, the one who stole and lied all the time.
The coach blew his whistle and motioned for everyone to gather around him for instructions. The dark-haired girl stood and trotted over to join the group. Like the other students she wore gym shorts and a t-shirt. Unlike them, she wore her signature ankle-height black canvas boots instead of tennis shoes. She sighed as the coach explained that they were going to run five laps around the gym and then pick partners for tennis and that these would be their partners for the rest of the unit. Not knowing anyone, she would probably end up with whatever other reject person didn't have a partner at the end. It was possible someone might pick her for athletic reasons, but she looked like the typical slacker emo chick, not willing to put forth any effort. Raven smirked. She'd just have to show them they were wrong.
As everyone set out jogging she broke apart from the group, not wanted to kick anyone in the head. After she'd taken a running start bent and performed a perfect cartwheel followed by another cartwheel that turned into a couple of front flips. At the end of this string of gymnastics she began jogging again as if she'd never broken stride at all. It was a show-off move, and she knew it, but Raven was quite the show-offy type at times. Had this been dance it would've been so much worse.
"Bates! What was that?" the coach called from his spot on the bleachers.
"Just warming up, coach!" she called back with a grin.

"Hey, Raptores." Kashou blinked and turned his sharp eyes to the right as he heard his name uttered, curious. Like everyone else, he dawned the regular gym uniform- tshirt and shorts, along with a few accessories of his own- And at first he looked like any other guy in the gym. Perhaps a bit more muscular, but still normal. But, really, was anyone on this room normal? He knew he certainly wasn't. Even as he stared the boy who had spoken, brow arched slightly, one could tell there was something different about him. His eyes... they were just... so vibrant and sharp, bird-like. Definately not completely human. The male nodded off toward where some of the girl's in the class were stretching out. Most were gossiping, some aiming glances in his direction as he looked over. But one, a small black-haired girl, stood apart. "Whaddya think of the new girl? Pretty cute, huh?" he chuckled and nudged him with a boney shoulder, giving a knowing look to the shifter. It was true.. Kashou was known to have his fun with the opposite gender every now and again, midnight adventures that turned to into short-term dating. It never lasted though, much to his secret saddness. It had been a while since he had been with a female, and apparently some of the guys had noticed. Finding that fact a bit daunting, Kashou allowed himself to look the girl over and intrest seemed to spark in his eyes. She was indeed, how the male at his side so mildly put it, cute. Her hair a deep black, and her eyes almost as sharp a blue as his, though with a green-tint to them. Very pretty, in the shifters opinion... Pretty enough to get to know. Kashou, a small smirk curling his lips, was about to walk over and introduce himself, only to be stopped as the coach ordered them to run laps. He gave an annoyed snort, but obeyed, keeping his eyes on the girl. Maybe he could catch up to her? Talk as they ran and all that. Smirk returning, he darted forward, loving the extra bursts of speed he inherited from his other form. But even with it, the girl still managed to evade him, veering off and doing some fancy gymnastic stuff before returning to jogging. The boy's eyes widened and he almost laughed aloud. 'Whoah..' he mumbled inwardly. Shaking his head slightly, he bolted again to jog instride with the girl. "Soo.." he said, his voice friendly as he adressed her. "You always this much of a show-off, or am I just lucky?" The words weren't meant to hurt, or to tease, merely to lighten the mood, make her laugh. Kashou hopped it would work as he easily kept pace.

"Actually I am a show-off most of the time, but that was really just to show the class that I'm not some slacker who can't hit a tennis ball worth a crap," she said, grinning, "I don't like getting picked last for group things and since I don't know anyone I figure the only way I'll get picked is if I have some skills." Raven looked over the boy jogging next to her with interest. He was, in a word, hot. He looked like a nice guy by her standards, though her standards were considerably different than most people's. To her a nice guy was someone with less than three piercings and a shorter police record than hers. It was hard to tell with the gym clothes, but he didn't seem like the piercing or police record type. She pushed her dark hair out of her face as they continued jogging around the gym. "I'm Raven, by the way," she added.

"Kashou," He introduced in turn, giving the girl a genuine smile, a sort of amusement in his eyes. Cute, and with a sense a humor. Nice combo. "So... I'm guessing youre new to the school, huh?" His eyes looking her over many a time, and finding more and more things he liked about her. Her hair, her eyes, her hands, her legs, just... everything. The girl was definately appealing. Silently, a curious glint in his sharp eyes, he opened his mouth and inhaled deep, running her scent over the glands on the roof of his mouth. She even smelled good. The animal in Kashou's head growled in approval and Kashou found himself moving closer.

"Well, sort of. I was new at the beginning of the year, but for some reason some admin decided in the middle of everything that I needed to take P.E. even though I've taken four years of dance, which counts as P.E. in every other school I've been to," she explained. She could feel the boy looking over her, though she wasn't quite sure what he was looking for. She couldn't help but do the same, noting that he was well-muscled, had a cute smile, and his eyes.....they were the most intense blue she'd ever seen. They were the kind of eyes a girl could drown in, and she had to mentally slap herself to keep from staring. "You're sexy, but I bet you know that," Raven said, doing her best not to be judgemental. Guys who were hot usually knew it and that made them cocky, which she disliked, most of the time.

Kashou nodded, finding the staff's decision to randomly place her in gym both moronic and excellent, for obvious reasons. As his eyes continued to scan over her, noting every detail with his quick-paced mind and sight, the dino-boy noticed she looking at him in turn, and couldn't help but smile. And when she complimented his looks, the smirked widened into a toothy grin. She was interested, that was good. It seemed, in both the human an animal worlds, looks were a key part in finding a partner. Well, that made Kashou's job a whole lot easier, didn't it? Apparently, to this girl at least, he was physically attractive. 'Sexy' as she had put it. "Am I know?" He chuckled, pausing to glance down at himself, though not at all in a shallow way. "Well... you're pretty hot yourself, babe." He smirked again, the small- slightly seductive- growl this time coming from his throat to intrude on their conversation.

Raven made a face that was similar to a grimace. She didn't like being called babe. She'd punched a guy for calling her that too often before. She wouldn't do that now of course. Partly because he obviously couldn't have known that she detested the name, and partly because this was a school she was determined not to get kicked out of. "Don't call me 'babe,'" she said irritably, tacking a "please" on the end to take some of the edge off. She didn't mean to be rude, but that particular pet name grated on her nerves like nothing else. The dark-haired girl kept her focus on the space in front of her for a moment, allowing her annoyance to fade before she looked back at Kashou. "Thank you for the compliment though," she said, smiling. She had the urge to tell him that she was sorry for being grouchy about the 'babe' thing but stopped herself. She wasn't sorry, and lying was something she wouldn't allow herself to do anymore.

Kashou frownedand blinked in confusion at her negative tone at the small pet name, searching his mind for something he had done wrong. Odd... most girls liked the nicknames... Never the less, if it upset her, he'd have to refrain from using it. "Oh... Er, sorry..." He said, also looking away. He perked up a bit as she smiled though, finding the grin to be beautiful, just like the rest of her. He smiled as well, flashing his slightly pointed teeth. "Youre welcome. Thanks for calling me sexy, by the way, heh." He chuckled, giving her a little wink.

"No problem," she said with a chuckle, continuing to jog around the gym. She did a sweep of the room, noting that they were close to the front of the jogging group, with the worst slackers all the way on the other side of the gym. The coach wasn't paying the students the least bit of attention and a few had stopped to walk. Raven spotted the pile of tennis racquets that they would be using for their matches and was reminded of her partner dilemma. She gave Kashou a sideways glance. "So....got anyone in mind for a partner for the tennis thing?" she asked.

Kashou chuckled, before following the girl's gaze first to the slackers, then to the pile of tennis equipment. At her question he smirked and shrugged, making his voice carefree and off-hand. "Well, there was this one girl I was gonna ask, but i'm not sure," He said, gazing around almost boredly, while inwardly chuckling. "She's suppose to be new to the class, and I dont wanna make her feel bad when I kick her ass at tennis, ya know? Heh... who were you gonna ask?" He blinked down at her, eyes sparkling in amusement despite his sliggish tone.

"I was going to ask you," she said bluntly, a per her usual honesty. "And if you think you're gonna beat me you're sadly mistaken. My ability gives me perfect grace, balance, agility, that sort of thing," she added, "See?" By way of example she did a couple of front flips, taking a few steps forward before starting so as not to kick him. True, normal people could do flips like that, but they messed up. Raven didn't. She never erred in the slightest when it came to matters of balance or grace. Her insignia made sure of that. "What's your ability?" she asked curiously, looking over the boy once more in a vain attempt to guess what his insignia might do.

Kashou watched with interest as the girl flawlessly front flipped in front of him, genuilly impressing him. When he was asked about his ability, he chuckled almost darkly. "Well, mine dies all that... with a few more bonuses including extra quick reflexes, speed, and strength," he smirked. "I'm a shifter, though.. A bit more special than youre average one. I, my little friend, turn into, in my opinion, one of the scariest things ever to roam the earth." Kashou glanced around for a moment, silently checking his ankle for his clothes-pack, and wondering how many people he'd freak out if he shifted. Also calculating how long it would take him to dash to the locker room- change- and get back to class. He guessed.... maybe a minute or two? He could say he'd gone to the bathroom or something. And if he got caught in his other form? Spantanious shifting. It wasn't unheard of, especially in a school full of kids with powers that were just barely being controlled. He smirked down at Raven, "Wanna see?"

"I'd be a liar if I said no," she replied, watching him curiously. His description gave her about a million different ideas of what it could be. "In my opinion, one of the scariest things ever to roam the earth," he'd said. The black-haired girl smirked, considering how great the difference between his opinion and her opinion might be. Most likely, very great. He was referring to an animal of some sort. In her mind the scariest thing to roam this earth was drunken people with firearms. Not exactly something one could shift into, though it was plenty animalistic. Raven cast a quick glance over the rest of the class. If he was indeed something scary, it would be quite interesting to see the looks on their faces.

Kashou smiled at her reply, excitement making his eyes spark as, already, they began to shift into an even sharper color, the pupils slitting slightly. "Might wanna stand back for this one~" He almost purred, though it was he that skipped a yard or so away from the girl. It was never a good idea to inflict pain or endanger a possible 'mate'. First impressions and all. Kashou clased his eyes, the smile fading slightly as he concentrated. Focus... note every mucle in and out of motion- His arms pumping, his legs bending and springing forward, his increasing heartrate and breathing- concentrate.... The male began to quake, his body violently shaking as his muscles gave harsh spasms under his skin. His skin paled slightly, his brow furrowing further as he began to shift- his body at first seeming to only grow larger, taller and bulkier. He then hunched over a bit, holding his mid section as if he had a horrible stomachache, and bared his teeth slightly. A few more seemingly-agonizing seconds ticked by before the shifting speeded up until it was too fast for the human eye to see, looking to be more like an explosion than someone turning into somthing else. But Kashou could see it, feel it- His face growing outward unto a muzzle, his front arms shrinking slightly as his back ones grew, his skin turning into a blue-gray scaled pelt, and tail sprouting from his rear along with spines along his skull. When it was all fiished, Kashou lifted his newly-formed head upward and gaze a loud screech, definately causing the rest of the class who hadn't already stopped to look turn in surprise. Their shock soon turned into fear, however, as they gazed upon Kashou in his new form- A huge velociraptor, straight out of Jurassic park. Only, this one was no robot or CGI. Nope, Kashou was the real, deadly, deal. With a small growl- though it was probably meant to be a laugh- The dinosuar turned to look at Raven, showing his teeth in what seemed to be a grin.

Raven watched the shift with rapt attention, a grin breaking across her face when he was finished. Raptor. Very nice. Very, very nice. She cast a look over the rest of the class, smirking at the fear she saw on several faces. No doubt they all knew it was a student shifting, especially if any of them knew Kashou and his ability, but they were smart to be afraid. Student or no, a creature of that size could wipe them all out with ease and be gone before anyone could stop him. She, however, was not afraid. If she wasn't mistaken he'd been flirting with her earlier, and attacking a girl was not a good way to get on her good side.
"Raptores! What do you think you're doing?!" the coach yelled as he walked their way. Everyone had stopped jogging at this point, staring at the extint beast with awe.
